Welcome to RedShed News!

In our first year of operation, 2023, we successfully ran a series of 14 courses in painting (watercolour and acrylics), drawing (still life, creative and abstraction), 6 life drawing classes, plus etching and screenprinting. We mounted an exhibition of historically significant screenprinted posters/prints and held a free seminar on copyright law.

This year so far we have run three classes in February:

  • Free-form Sculptures (Cardboard and Mixed Media) with David Golightly
  • Acrylic 3x3x1 with  Marcus Hotblack
  • Styrofoam Printmaking with Jackie Gorring

all of which have been very successful, and we were delighted to be able to show some of the output from them as part of the 2024 Open Studios Newstead.

This is the first time since we have functioned as a workshop that we’ve had the opportunity to exhibit work done by the students who have attended classes. In many cases, it was the first time that they have ever shown their work publicly.

The RedShed would like to congratulate all who have participated in the classes and particularly those who put their work into the show.

We also thank David, Marcus and Jackie for working with us and continuing so successfully to encourage people’s participation in the wonderful world of making art.

Whether you are an experienced artist or just starting out, there is something for everyone at the RedShed.
