Introduction to Halftone Screen Printing

Clayton Tremlett is a Castlemaine-based Printmaker whose works draw explicitly from Australian History. He is renowned for his linocut portraiture; which he utilises to produce wallpapers, artist’s books, collector cards and editioned prints.
His work is included in the Australian National Gallery, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Geelong, Hamilton, Mornington Peninsula, Wangaratta, Warrnambool and State Library of Victoria collections.
Overview
In this one-day introductory workshop, participants will explore screen printing processes to make a one colour halftone screenprint using a photographic image of personal choice. It is recommended using a portrait as your reference material, however it’s up to you…
On the day, participants will require a computer with either Adobe Photoshop or Gimp programs to explore the development of their image.
We will explore the process of making a halftone image, generating a film positive, transferring the image to a silk screen and making a screenprint.
At the end of the day, you will have a couple of A3 sized screen prints on archival paper.
Suitable for beginners and experienced printmakers wanting to explore the halftone process.
